In filtered natural light, I focused on breathing and stretching. Once my body was warm, I bound my limbs with rope and found ways to restrict or change movement. By swinging, stretching, and pulling myself up, I explore the available space and the limits the limits of my body.
Around me, white teacups are placed carefully on the floor. Throughout the performance I suspend the cups at different heights. They mark the boundaries of my available movement, and act as constant reminders to pace myself. The cups occasionally touch and make sharp sounds in an otherwise silent room. When one slips free of the tie it shatters and leaves behind chaotic shards that I step around carefully.
The performance ends as I lower myself to the ground and wind the ropes back into tidy bundles. They make a neat pile on one side and the cups on the other as I stretch once more.
